Dwyer, was our attendance helper this week. His job was to count all of the names that checked into school each day.
Everyone was super excited to see our Christmas tree when they arrived at school on Thursday. We got to work making ornaments to decorate the tree with. Here, Marion is using beads to string on a pipe cleaner. When she was finished, Ms. Amy shaped them into shapes like, a candy cane, heart or circle and then they were put onto the tree.
We used our gingerbread house letters and beads to trace different letters. We identify what the letter is and talk about the sound it makes.
At first we tried using pom pom but quickly discovered that they were too big and switched to beads.
We noticed that we all had the same color and style jacket on at recess so we took a picture :)
Connor was busy making sugar cookies out of play dough. Yummy!
We have been reading books and talking a lot about cold weather animals and habitats, this week. To go along with that, we made penguins using black and white paper, googly eye and an orange beak.
Harper S. was busying making letters and mailing them to Santa. She was in the middle of a very important phone call to Ms. Amy in this picture.
Today, we made ornaments using cardstock and permanent markers. We used shapes like hearts, bells, snowmen, bears and stars. Our tree is going to be so full and beautiful when we are done with it.
Mira enjoyed sorting through a tray of buttons, separating them in different ways each time.
Do you wanna build a snowman? They were given materials to build their own snowmen. Ones that won't melt inside that is ;)
Another cold weather animal/habitat activity this week was a habitat bin of "snow" and animals that live in the snow. one of the hazards of this activity is getting dusted by the "snow".
Mira got dusted too!
