Wednesday, January 26th

We are starting to incorporate Valentine's Day activities into our day. This week, we explored a rice bin of colorful rice, beads, and silicone heart shaped cupcake holders.

This week we began a unit on dinosaurs. We are reading about the different types of dinosaurs and if they are carnivores or herbivores.

Lily, had fun scooping, pouring, and "baking" her heart shaped cupcakes.

Frankie, used the numbered clothespins to identify and match up the number on the dinosaurs.

We measured and counted how tall and wide the dinosaurs are using our counting cubes.

January 6th 2022

Eleanor and Wyatt, worked really hard at this giant block creation. A lot of gross motor work happened while making this structure.

We are starting the new year off with a lot more focused work. Explorers who show interest in writing, have been joining me to identify and trace letters. Each child is given an alphabet letter tracing books and we work side by side on them. I will trace the letter in yellow to show them and they will trace over it. Some kiddos just do it on their own and that is great, too!

Another way that we have been practicing to identify and write our letters is with alphabet dab the dot pages. There are tons of different ways we learn our letters!

We started our week off by making "pizza" by matching our "toppings" (letters) to the matching one on the pizza. This is a great activity for identifying and learning the phonological sound for it. These are great activities to do at home. There is never too much practice for these things.

One last activity that we have done this week is, using gems and beads to "trace" our letters on our letter mats. Sometimes we use playdough, too!

Playtime and Storytime!

A muddy playground is a great place to find worms and Charlotte wasn't afraid to hold one! Sunshine, friends, swings and so many giggles...
